When Revised Edition (also known as Third Edition or 3ED) was released on April 1, 1994, sets of black-bordered cards in French, German and Italian were printed soon thereafter, now known as Foreign Black Border or FBB. A second printing of the same cards, except now with white borders, appeared in late 1994 and early 1995 (different languages had different dates); these sets are now known as Foreign White Border or FWB. When the foreign language (French, German, Italian) versions of Fourth Edition appeared, many cards overlapped with their FWB predecessors. For the French cards, released first, most could be discerned by the copyright year, 1994 (FWB) vs. 1995 (4th); for Italian cards, the differences are bit more subtle, but manageable (text alignments differ); the German cards, however, have many cards (~50) that are indistinguishable from one version to the next.
